The City of Los Angeles’ Department of Cultural Affairs Slide Registry has been in existence since 1985 and has slides of artwork and artist information of more than 1200 artists residing within California. Currently we have over 400 members represented by the Registry.
The Registry is an important resource for artists, curators, gallery owners, art consultants, developers, librarians, college and university professors, film studios and artists.
Visitors are able to access (by appointment) the Registry through our DCA database by artist, medium, category, and style of artwork and obtain pertinent information about the artists. The Registry gives evidence of the rich artistic and culturally diverse art community within the state. In addition, the Registry is an important resource for the curators of the Los Angeles Municipal Art Gallery.
Due to the nature of our program, our audience levels range from students to professionals in the visual arts. In the past we have had visitors visiting the Registry form Japan and Mexico seeking visual artists for exhibition opportunities.
